§Then individually write a blog post detailing who is in your group, the locations you have chosen and your groups needed equipment

Assignment 3: Microphones and Locations

3 - be able to devise a soundtrack for a moving image project
The assignment will help you learn how best to record live footage in various locations using the correct equipment.
§In small groups (min 3, max 4) students will get the correct equipment and film the scripted fictional news piece in 3 different locations.
§Once recorded, students will analyse the footage and note down any sound/noise that interferes with the film.

§Once noted the problems encountered with each location, the students will then make a plan as to eradicate these issues.

§In their groups they will then film again in the same locations but with the changes made in the plan.

§Finally evaluate if it worked.

Preparing to shoot footage or audio on location

Individually answer the following questions in a post on your blog:
1.Why do you think it is important to make a plan before you go and shoot film or audio on location?
2.What might happen if you do not plan?
3.Use youtube to find a clip of a newsreader reporting from a location that contains bad background noise. Post the link to your blog and comment on what you would have done differently if you were filming that piece.
